“I Fell in Love in Istanbul” is a visual poem born from my wanderings around the city. Through fleeting moments, passing glances, and the rhythm of everyday life, it captures a feeling that is difficult to define but easy to recognise.
The statement itself stands as a true testament. Whether the love is for the city or for someone within it is intentionally left open-ended, but it is a feeling that, in one way or another, seems to find everyone who steps foot in Istanbul.
The audio felt instinctively right. While editing, I was still deciding what sound would accompany the piece, and this excerpt from Everything is Romantic by Charli XCX seemed to encompass the emotions that gave shape to the visual poem.
