Boho Is Back: Will Coachella 2025 Mark the Return of Festival Fashion Fun?

There was a time—not so long ago—when Coachella weekend was treated like fashion’s unofficial spring gala. Think rhinestones, tie-dye, suede fringe, and outfits that could only be justified in the middle of a desert with a VIP wristband. But lately? It’s been quiet. Too quiet.

While the boho trend is clearly making a return both on the runways and on our feeds, this year’s Coachella hasn’t carried the same cultural buzz. Maybe it's just me, but I haven’t felt the hype. You'd think that with the rise of fringe, crochet, and a Charli XCX main stage moment, the internet would be flooded with outfit predictions and celebrity sightings. But as the festival kicks off today, it feels surprisingly low-key.

Still, the trends are giving us reason to hope. If fashion is any indication, Coachella 2025 might just be the moment we collectively choose fun again.

The Flat Years—and the Craving for Fun

After years of subdued styles and ‘quiet luxury’ dominating both runways and festival fields, there’s a rising hunger for loud, expressive, and joy-filled fashion. Minimalism made sense post-pandemic—it felt safe, clean, and Instagram-friendly. But fashion is, by nature, cyclical. And the pendulum now swings back toward chaotic good: color, texture, nostalgia, and yes—boho.

The Boho Comeback: A Data-Driven Revival

Boho-chic isn't just having a moment—it’s staging a full-on revival.

According to Vogue Business, searches for Balenciaga’s City bag—a boho-era staple—spiked in late January 2024. The resale platform The RealReal also reported a 43% increase in searches for ‘fringe’ following fashion week.

Google Trends confirms the shift: in March 2024, searches for "boho chic", "boho style", and "boho fashion" all saw a sharp rise compared to late 2023 and early January 2024. It's clear that interest is building—and the digital crowd is tuning in.

More recently, Heuritech's Spring/Summer 2025 trend forecast projects a 17% increase in the popularity of suede—a key boho texture—among women between July and September compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, TikTok continues to show a surge in content related to boho fashion, with creators putting out modern takes on the aesthetic and millions of views supporting the movement.

Celebrities Are Reclaiming the Vibe

At Coachella 2024, signs of this shift were already surfacing. Megan Fox and Charli D’Amelio leaned into boho cues with cowboy hats and bandanas. Alessandra Ambrosio brought back the magic in a tie-dye sweater, suede bikini top, and denim shorts. The message? Fun is back on the table—and fashion doesn’t have to take itself so seriously.

Coachella 2025: A Brat-ified Boho Future?

As we head into Coachella Weekend 1, all eyes are on whether the brat-ification of fashion (think: Charli XCX, chaotic layering, hyper-girlie-meets-grunge) will meet the revived boho spirit.

If the trends are any indication, we’re in for a festival season rich in fringe, color, crochet, and yes—personality.

So here’s to hoping people ditch the feed-safe fits and start dressing for the joy of it again. Let’s bring back the unpredictability, the sparkle, the unapologetic extra energy that once made Coachella’s fashion moments iconic. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to go full fringe, feather, or face gem—this is it.

Tag us if you’re going boho this weekend. We’ll be watching.
